Hard to believe, but a year has gone by since Chuck's passing.
We all miss him deeply, but we know his spirit carries on in a variety of different ways. He's here with us anytime incredibly ridiculous puns are thrown about, whenever we get a craving for an RC and some Ding Dongs, whenever there is a TV station or DVD player that somehow finds a way to play "Cop Rock," whenever we find ourselves laughing at the ironies life throws our way, In all of these Chuck has found a way to touch us, to leave us laughing and begging for me. He continues to do so today. He was our dear friend, colleague, compatriot, ally, buddy, brother, husband, uncle, son... and we love him.

During this past year, the FixUpChuck community has decided to take on the project of cementing Chuck's legacy at the Camp he loved. We all chipped in with ideas and concepts, narrowed the choices down to three, and then voted. The winning concept, Picciuti Pavilion, will be located at the heart of the Texas Lions Camp and will transform an unused office space into a truly dynamic and indispensable hub where people can meet and get to know each other. We are excited to say that your winning idea has started to take shape and the Camp has already had some preliminary drawings and mock-ups done on the project.

The Picciuti Pavilion will have some of the comforts of the great indoors accessible to those unfortunate souls stuck outside, games to play, barbecues and picnic tables, and may house a Campers Hall of Fame area detailing the fantastic stories, myths, and legends of the wonderful people who have impacted the Camp in positive ways. The Lions Camp Board of Directors has approved the project and we are ready to move on to the next phase, fund-raising.

The project comes with a nice sized price tag, around a quarter of a million dollars. So, while individual donations will help and are being accepted at the Lions Camp web site by designating payment to the Picciuti Pavilion, a larger drive has been drafted up by Chuck's pop. Mr. Picciuti has drawn on Chuck's love of Poker and has devised a concept to run a series of Poker Tournaments throughout Lion Clubs of Texas with the sole purpose of raising money for Picciuti Pavilion, We will get more information to you on this when it is finalized, but if you are in a Lions Club now make sure if it comes to your town you are supporting this and bringing as many people as you can on board with you. The San Antonio Founder Lions Club has been a key factor in the progress of this project.
