A New Lions Club

Would YOU be interested in joining to form a Lions Club that is to be comprised predominantly of former campers and counselors of the Texas Lions Camp?

Here are the preliminary details:

  • This club does not yet exist. When it is formed, it will be a "virtual" Lions club - TOTALLY "INTERNET" BASED.  Members would not have to live in any particular place but would need to have an email address and internet access.

  • The main purpose of the club would be to:

    • ensure the existence and well-being of the Texas Lions Camp into perpetuity

    • serve as a platform to keep present and former campers and counselors and other select individuals in close contact and communication

  •  Membership would be by invitation only and compromised predominantly of former and present campers and counselors.  Others, who's "heart" is with the Texas Lions Camp (for example: parents of past and present counselors & campers) could become members but any such person would have to be invited to join by an active member and then their membership would need to be approved by the club's board of directors (which would be made up of active members of the club).

    • The club would conduct all of it's business via the internet and the expectations are that we will have a super web page.

    • Major activities of the club would be focused on supporting the purpose of it's existence:  namely keeping the Lions camp viable and keeping it's alumni and "friends", in contact.  Examples of club activities:

      • Fund raising (talking to other service clubs and organizations about the Lions Camp and conducting local fund raisers all over the state.)

      • Alumni gathering (let your imagination run with this)

    • Those who join the club as it is being formed would be known as "Charter members" (if you are thinking of joining, then you will want to be a "charter member".......those are the folks who get credit for starting it all.)

    • Once the club is formed and a constitution and by-laws drawn up, joining the club will be by invitation only and approval of a new member will be by board action (the club will have it's own board of directors made up of club members).

    • The Club's Board of Directors will likely consist of: Club President (that could be YOU!), three vice presidents, a secretary, Treasurer, Lion Tamer (knows everyone & everything), Tail Twister (someone to keep things lively - the kind of person Chuck Picciuti would have been), probably six to ten "directors", and a Membership Chairman.

What do we need from you now?    Answer two questions:

(1)  Would you be interested in joining such a club; and
(2)  If interested, would you be interested in serving on the first Board of Directors?

Please give us your answer to the above two questions by sending an email to Lion Roland Keller of the San Antonio Founder Lions Club who is poised to provide technical assistance.

Please pass this on to as many others as you know or can think of whom you think might be interested.
